“It is horrible to see everything that one detested in the past coming back wearing the colors of the future.”  I thought this quote by Jean Rostand poignant today.  Not that I focus on the negative implications of it, but rather, I chose to maintain hope that a brighter future can come out of the ashes of what has been our history—that which has broken many and brought others to their knees.  For to overlook the suffering of these individuals—and yes, they’re people, not statistics or mere numbers—is to recklessly burst into the future, brandishing a blazing torch lit with the mistakes of the past, sure to ignite similar mistakes in the future.
