Could you imagine what a better place the world would be if people took the time necessary to educate themselves about how to effectually communicate with one another?  Many claim they don’t have the time.

What?  How can that be?

It takes longer to untangle a snarled mess of miscommunications than to make one’s self understood—the first time.  Of course, doing so does require a certain amount of self-control.  When someone is trying to get their point across, they need to remain objective, checking their emotions at the door.

It surprises me how folks are willing to devote inordinate amounts of time to watching TV, seeing a movie, going to a concert, dancing, shopping, etc, but when it comes time to educate themselves about how to make themselves better understood through the art of effective communication, all of a sudden, they don’t “have enough time.”

Don’t people understand?  Aren’t they willing?

By putting in effort to clearly communicate with others, one’s life becomes less complicated.  Time is saved, time that otherwise would be spent trying to untangle that snarled mess of miscommunications.

So I ask.  Is it really that folks don’t have the time, or is it more likely that they’d rather not put in the time necessary to uncomplicated their lives?
