“Never forget your past but don’t cling to it.  You can’t move forward by clinging to the past.”  This is a quote I appreciate.  Picked it up a short time back but don’t recall who said it.

Though sometimes easier said than done, the quote’s philosophy is dead on accurate.  There are times when recalling the past is uncomfortable or downright emotionally painful.  But by allowing ourselves to revisit the past, we grant ourselves the possibility of being freed from whatever hold it has on us.  How?  By looking at the whole past, embracing the good parts, acknowledging the not-so-good ones before blessing and completely releasing them—their hold on us, we gain the ability to move forward, confident in gained knowledge and unencumbered or crippled by those parts of our past that left painful marks on us.
