As a writer, there’s something magical about taking the random thoughts that bobble around my head and turning them into something that might make sense to others—perhaps even entertain them.  Of the writers I know, we all have an abundance of ideas flitting around the recesses of our brains just begging to be set free.  The methodology each writer uses to release those thoughts is just as unique as each of them.

So back to taking those arbitrary thoughts and turning them into something other than a constant, chaotic, background static that never quite gets muted….  I believe most writers view the world similar to how I do, as an endless abundance of possibilities, none more significant than the other, though many impacting us on a deeper level.  There are experiences we have that touch our very souls.  Others evoke emotional reactions, causing us to laugh, cry or ponder things.  Still more, at first glance, appear innocuous, but upon deeper reflection reveal their profoundness.

As writers, we intake all this data and let it percolate in the catacombs of our brains.   Once it’s reached “maturity,” we then purge it onto paper, attempting to make clear our intentions, thoughts and perceptions.  We do so by using the tools we have—our creativity, brains and words.

Ah, words…wonderful glorious words.  Oft they are overlooked or thought to be insignificant.  We writers know different.  Without words, the stray thoughts that haphazardly bumble around our heads would build to a point of causing a cataclysmic explosion, our heads likely being blown off in the process.  So how do we avoid such a catastrophe?  Simple.  We apply our skills to those indiscriminant thoughts, breathing life into them that will enlighten and hopefully entertain others.
